Fossil fuels are used to generate most of the electricity used on Earth. But where do they come from? Watch this video to gain a better understanding of the natural processes that create fossil fuels. Now that you know a little bit about where fossil fuels come from, can you explain how the Sun’s light energy is ultimately responsible for the energy in fossil fuels? Describe the path that light energy must take to become the chemical energy in fossil fuels and then electrical energy. (Hint: Think about how plants in an ecosystem get their energy.)
