Use the concepts in this chapter to obtain an estimate for the number of atoms in the universe. Make the following assumptions: (a) Assume that all of the atoms in the universe are hydrogen atoms in stars. (This is not a ridiculous assumption because over three-fourths of the atoms in the universe
are in fact hydrogen. Gas and dust between the stars represent only about 15% of the visible matter of our galaxy, and planets compose a far tinier
fraction.) (b) Assume that the sun is a typical star composed of pure hydrogen with a density of 1.4 g/cm and a radius of 7 x 108m. (c) Assume
that each of the roughly 100 billion stars in the Milky Way galaxy contains the same number of atoms as our sun. (d) Assume that each of the 10
billion galaxies in the visible universe contains the same number of atoms as our Milky Way galaxy.
Express your answer using one signififcant figure.

Salicylic acid is a very important acid. it is used to synthesize the aspirin by treating with acetic anhydride. a 0.2015-g sample of salicylic acid was dissolved in a 100.00-ml volumetric flask, and the solution was diluted to the mark. a 10-ml aliquot of this solution was titrated with standard naoh (0.01130 + 0.2% n) to a phenolphthalein faint pink color end point at 19.81 ml. (a) (calculate the normality of the salicylic acid solution used in the titration. (b) assuming the salicylic acid is pure, what is the equivalent weight of the salicylic acid? practice problems for the final exam (continued) (c) (calculate the inherent error in the determination of the equivalent weight you calculated in part (b). use the following absolute errors in the equipment /glassware when calculating the inherent error. 5.00-ml pipet: + 0.02 ml 100-ml volumetric flask: + 0.08 ml analytical balance: + 0.2 mg 25-ml buret: + 0.03 ml

Astudent pours 10.0 g of salt into a container of water and observes the amount of time it takes for the salt to dissolve. she then repeats the process using the same amounts of salt and water but this time she slowly stirs the mixture while it is dissolving. the student performs the experiment one more time but this time she stirs the mixture rapidly. the dependent variable in this experiment is: time for salt to dissolve speed of stirring amount of water mass of salt
