1. On a very hot day, you decide to relax with a friend and enjoy a fruity cup of mango juice.
You have ice in the cup and also a thermome-
ter-swizzle stick. As the mango juice cup cools
(because of the ice), moisture suddenly starts
condensing on the outside of the cup. The
mango juice cup temperature is 20°C when
this happens. The air temperature is 30°C.
(a) What is the dewpoint
temperature?
(b) Estimate the vapor pressure in the atmo-
sphere. (Hint: use Figure 1.9.)
(c) Estimate the relative humidity in percent.
(d) Why did moisture condense on the out-
side of the cup?
