1. Check all the equipment that apply in preparing serial and molar dilutions only - test tubes
- mohr pipette
- graduate cylinder
- stirring rod
- stock solutions in volumetric flask
- beaker
- scoopula
- balance
- volumetric pipette

2. What is the order of making a stock solution as you did making 0.1 M of NaCl (Part A) in the lab?
1. Measure grams of NaCl needed to make the 0.1 M solution at a certain volume. Place it in the 100 mL volumetric flask, using a wash bottle to clean remaining solid.
2. Cap and Invert the flask and add water up to the mark on the 100 mL volumetric flask
3. Add water about 1/2 full and swirl to dissolve solid as well as add the food coloring.
4. Transfer solution to a plastic bottle to save solution. Cap the bottle to prevent contamination.

Modern pennies are composed of zinc coated with copper. a student determines the mass of a penny to be 2.482 g and then makes several scratches in the copper coaling (to expose the underlying zinc). the student puts the scratched penny in hydrochloric acid, where the following reaction occurs between the zinc and the hcl (the copper remains undissolved): zn(s) + 2 hcl(aq) → h2(g) + zncl(aq)the student collects the hydrogen produced over water at 25 °c. the collected gas occupies a volume of 0.899 l at a total pressure of 79 j mmhg. calculate the percent zinc (by mass) in the penny. (assume that all the zn in the penny dissolves.)
