A student places a 2.50 gram sample of magnesium metal in a bottle and fits the bottle with a 2-hole stopper as shown in the diagram below. Excess hydrochloric acid is added to the bottle causing an exothermic chemical reaction generating hydrogen gas. As the reaction proceeds, the gas travels through the tubing to an inverted bottle filled with water, displacing the air as the hydrogen gas is collected. Mg(s)+2HCl(g)=MgCl2(s)+H2(g)

Using the balanced equation above, calculate the volume hydrogen gas produced in the experiment at STP.

Effect of rotenone and antimycin a on electron transfer rotenone, a toxic natural product from plants, strongly inhibits nadh dehydrogenase of insect and fish mitochondria. antimycin a, a toxic antibiotic, strongly inhibits the oxidation of ubiquinol. (a) explain why rotenone ingestion is lethal to some insect and fish species. (b) explain why antimycin a is a poison. (c) given that rotenone and antimycin a are equally effective in blocking their respective sites in the electron-transfer chain, which would be a more potent poison? explain.
