Example 2 C is a mixture of two salts. Carry out the following on sample C. Record
observations and identify any gases evolved.
State the conclusions you draw from the results of each test.
a. Put all of C into a beaker or boiling tube and add about 10cm' of water. S
mix ture, and then filter. Keep the filtrate and the residue.
b. Divide the filtrate into two portions.
i. To the first portion, add dilute NH, in drops until it is in excess.
ii. To the second portion add 1 cm of dilute hydrochloric acid.
c. i. To the residue in a test tube, add 2cm dilute tetraoxosulphate(VI) acid an
ii. Pour lem of the resulting from (c) (i) above into another test tube. Add d
