After performing the reaction from Problem 16.37, the reaction flask is heated to 40°C and two of the products become the major products. When the flask is then cooled to 0°C, no change occurs in the product distribution. Explain why an increase in temperature causes a change in the product distribution and explain why a subsequent reduction in temperature has no effect.
