Athousand kilos of soya beans, of composition 18% oil, 35% protein, 10.5% moisture and 36.5% other contents of carbohydrate ,fiber and ash are sent to a crusher, where it is crushed and pressed this reduces oil content in the beans to 6%, this extra amount of oil leaves the crusher; the oil-reduced beans then enter an extractor where hexane is added which in turn produces soya beans containing 0.5% oil; and finally the beans are sent to a dryer to leave with 8% moisture. assuming that there is no loss of protein and water with the oil, set out a mass balance for the soyabean constituents.
