In a refinery, a stream of water at its bubble point (just about to boil) is used to completely condense a stream of hot gasoline just at its condensation point in a heat exchanger. the gasoline goes into the exchanger at its dew point (quality of 1) and comes out completely condensed, without any subcooling (quality of 0). likewise, the water stream goes into the exchanger and takes the heat from the gasoline stream, and emerges with a quality of 1 (no superheating). the gasoline stream is at 130 °c, while the water stream is at 100 °c. if the total heat duty of the heat exchanger is 12,000 k/minute, then what is the required area (square meters) of the heat exchanger? what is the lmtd value for this problem? what value did you use for temperature difference in this case? sketch the hot and cold side temperature profiles (graph of t vs distance along tubes) of this heat exchanger
