Astream of n-pentane flows at a rate of 60 litres per minute into a heating chamber where it evaporates and is completely mixed with 20% excess air. the temperature and gauge pressure of the air are 340 k and 208.7 kpa the heated gas then flows into a combustion furnace in which a large fraction of the pentane is burned. the product gas, which contains all of the unburned pentane, and no co goes to a condenser in which both the water formed from the combustion and the unreacted pentane are liquified. the gases which don't condense leave the condenser at 275 k and 1 atm of pressure absolute. the liquid condensate is separated into its components (water and pentane) and the flow rate of pentane is found to be 3.78 kg/min. calculate: (a) the fractional conversion of pentane and the extent, (b) the volumetric flow rate of feed air in m/min, (c) the volumetric flow rate of gas leaving the condenser, and, (d) the total volumetric flow rate of the liquid condensate stream leaving the condenser.
