Plants convert the electromagnetic energy of photons into chemical energy stored in atp molecules. an equivalent of 54 atps are then used to make each glucose molecule in the calvin cycle. when cells break glucose molecules down to smaller molecules like carbon dioxide and water they are only able to create 38 atp molecules. what fundamental scientific principle accounts for the difference in those numbers of atp molecules?
