Davie Jones is a notorious pirate who has just captured a smaller ship, and decided to let the three captives join his crew if they could pass a test of wit and wisdom. He asked all of them to close their eyes and put a single eye patch with a coloured spot on each of their eyes. "Each of you has either a red or green spot on your eyepatches, all I'll tell you is that at the least there is one green spot," says Jones. He then asks them to open their eyes and gives them the following instructions: "None of you can talk, wink or signal to each other in any manner. You have an hour, within which you must shout out only the colour of the spot on your eyepatch. In case you fail to do this or get the colour wrong, you will be deserted on an island."
The smart sailors open their eyes and look at each other's eye patches. They sit quietly for almost an hour, and at the last minute all of them shout out the colours at the same time, correctly.
Given that all the three sailors are equally smart and can think at the same rate, guess the colours on each crewmates eyepatches correctly, and then calculate the sum of the letters of the three spot colours.
