Barry, a shy 30-year-old, has just been promoted to grounds manager at a mountain resort that features a golf course, nature trails, and a stable. In the winter the resort welcomes thousands of avid skiers from around thee world. The resort hires many seasonal employees to maintain the property, working in teams with a single manager. Over the past six years, Barry has moved up through the ranks from seasonal employee to full time employee. Becoming one of five grounds managers is a great accomplishment for him. Unfortunately, as he begins work with a new crew, his productivity and that of his team falls dramatically. What advice would you give Barry? 1. Fire his existing seasonal employees and start over with a new crew
2. Evaluate his strengths and weaknesses and seek advice and support from the other grounds managers
3. Asked to be reassigned as a full-time grounds keeper rather than manager
4. He should not do anything to address the lack of productivity; it often occurs when a new manager is hired and will resolve itself
