There are more people than you realize who do not leave work until the wee hours of the morning which allows them the opportunity to patronize businesses which are open 24 hours. There are quite a number of people who work overnight and they can use their lunch hour, like day time workers are wont to do, to engage in some quick shopping. Then there are the people who work overnight in driving vehicles. Obviously police officers come to mind first, and the businesses that are open overnight REALLY welcome the presence of law enforcement officers within their four walls to ward off those who have lawbreaking in mind, taxi drivers, ambulances, firefighters, et al. Finally, you have people who suffer from insomnia that are tired (pun intended) of tossing and turning in their respective beds trying to go back to sleep. Some choose to get out of their house and engage in an activity, such as shopping, to divert their mind from not sleeping and are hoping that shopping will bring on fatigue. Then, when they return home, they will be able fall asleep. One great advantage of being open 24 hours is the opportunity to accomplish restocking of shelves, bins, food, and cleaning.
