Now that you have learned about different types of market research, you are ready to create your own qualitative survey to investigate quality-of-life issues at your school. You will need to collect some
quantitative data, such as name, age, gender, and information about school attendance. Before you
construct your survey questions, however, you will need decide whether your research will be
descriptive, exploratory, or causal. Is there a problem or quality-of-life issue you wish to further
investigate? Do you need to figure out what the important quality of life issues are to begin with? Do you
want to find the cause of some issue or problem? After you have determined the type of research you
wish to do, develop a plan. Whom will you interview? When and where? What's your deadline? Next,
construct your research questionnaire. Go online to find examples of questionnaires used for qualitative
research. You may or may not have time to carry out the actual research. However, in simply writing the
survey, you will find that a lot of quality-of-life issues are now on your radar.
