Survivor Model
-It takes 30 person-hours to build an adequate shelter
-It takes 25 person-hours to gather enough food for the whole tribe and bring it back to camp
-There are five people who can work
-They have 10 hours before it gets dark
These are the assumptions of our deserted island. Remember that 1 hour per person = 1 person hour.
1. Could both tasks be completed if we increased the time before dark to 12 hours? Why?
2. Could our survivors accomplish both tasks if the number of workers was increased to 6?
3. If both tasks were reduced to 20 person-hours and all the other assumptions stayed the same what would our survivors be left with?
4. If 3 of the survivors were senior citizens would that change anything? What is assumed about the survivors?
