1.
Demonstrate how a leader can implement change within an organization to enhance effectiveness and efficiency. You will consider the information you learned in your conversation with the company you contacted in Week 5. You will be measured on how you apply key managerial skills to foster innovation and lead change in a dynamic business as well as your ability to listen actively and respond using appropriate tone and word choice.

Scenario
Your boss has asked you to implement a new rotating work schedule that requires employees to work different schedules each week. She would like to know how other companies in the area have handled their schedule changes in the past to determine if their change model is applicable to this situation.

Review the discussion with the organization you contacted in Week 5, and consider whether you would use any of the strategies to implement a new rotating work schedule.

Prepare a 12- to 15-slide presentation (e. g. Microsoft PowerPoint, PreziĀ®, etc.) to build a business case for your boss and your organizationā€™s leadership team. Your presentation should include speaker notes, and ensure you do the following:
o Analyze the change requested by your boss:
o Analyze the impact of this change to the bottom line (profit, productivity, and expenses).
o Analyze the desired result or goal.
o Analyze who will be affected by the change.
o Analyze the change management approach(es) used by the company you interviewed in Week 5.
o Identify the company you chose to interview for your research.
o Discuss the approach(es) the company used to make a change in the past. Include elements of your interview, such as your questions and the company representativeā€™s responses.
o Evaluate whether you would use any of the change management strategies from your Week 5 interview.
o Analyze the role of the leader to accomplish the change.
o Assess what metrics will be applied to determine success or failure.
o Determine the timeline for the change.
o Include speaker notes with each slide.

A leader can implement change within an organization and foster efficiency and effectiveness.
The first and foremost important task is to win the confidence of the team. Every team member should believe in the leader. Only then the leader can effectively manage the team.
It is the task of the leader to setup the culture of the organization which goes a long way in fostering innovation. The culture of rewarding efforts and not strictly penalizing every failure helps employees try new things. The employees should feel that boss have their back and they can always seek support from the leader. Innovation is a culture existing in the organization which generates new thinking and newer ways of doing work.
Also it is important for the leader to be tough and strict when situation demands. The employees should not take the leader for granted and if required tough measures need to be taken. The choice of words are critical in managing a team. The leader should maintain a professional relationship with everyone in the team.
Lastly it is important for the leader to promote or reward the right people for key positions and he should be impartial in all his dealings.
