A nonprofit primarily serves women who have been incarcerated for nonviolent offenses. It helps them find safe housing, reconnect with their families in a positive way, and look for jobs. Now the executive director has announced that the organization will begin partnering with women’s shelters to offer similar services to victims of domestic violence. Employees are unsure whether they will be asked to work with the new target population, and therefore have to learn new skills, or whether a number of new staff will be hired, who will probably have different ideas about how to do things.
