Nicole Walker owns a small bakery in Georgia. A friend has asked to partner with her in the business. In order to know if she wants to expand the business, Nicole wants to "run" some computations to better understand the existing business. Budgeted data for the next 12 months includes:

Revenues $600,000
Fixed costs $150,000
Variable costs $425,000

Variable costs will change based on the number of products sold. Use an Excel spreadsheet to compute expected operating income for each of the following scenarios. Please refer to CSU-Global Library (Links to an external site.) for Lynda tutorials on using Microsoft Excel or use the Excel Tutorials link found in the classroom if you need assistance.

A. A 5% increase in contribution margin, but keeping revenues steady,
B. A 5% decrease in fixed costs,
C. A 10% increase in units sold,
D. A 15% increase in units sold and a 5% increase in fixed cost,
E. A 5% decrease in variable costs and a 5% decrease in fixed cost

The management of a private investment club has a fund of $250,000 earmarked for investment in stocks. to arrive at an acceptable overall level of risk, the stocks that management is considering have been classified into three categories: high risk (x), medium risk (y), and low risk (z). management estimates that high risk stocks will have a rate of return of 15%/year; medium risk stocks, 10%/year; and low risk stocks, 6%/year. the amount of money invested in low risk stocks is to be twice the sum of the amount invested in stocks of the other two categories. if the investment goal is to have a rate of return of 9% on the total investment, determine how much the club should invest in each type of stock. (assume that all the money available for investment is invested.)
