There are several different traditional organizational designs. Some organizations are small enough that they can utilize a simple structure. Others are best served by grouping their organization by the occupational specialty of organizational members. Still others require a divisional structure that groups activities around the products they produce, the customers or clients they serve, or their regional or geographic locations. This activity is important because organizational leaders must know how to choose the proper organizational structures based on their firms' needs and natures. The goal of this exercise is to challenge your knowledge of the different types of structures that are considered traditional organizational designs.
