Managers are important members of the organization. within an organization, there are managers at four levels: top, middle, first-line, and team leaders. this activity is important because each of these levels has different managerial challenges and decisions to make to achieve organizational effectiveness.
the four levels of managers perform different roles, but they need to operate to achieve organizational effectiveness. at the top of the organization are top managers. top managers make long-term decisions on the overall direction of the organization. a ceo would be considered a top manager. middle managers, on the other hand, implement the policies and plans of the top managers. middle managers also supervise and coordinate the activities of the first-line managers. first-line managers make short-term operating decisions and direct the tasks of nonmanagerial personnel. team leaders are managers who are responsible for facilitating team activities toward achieving key results.
