Shift in the demand curve represents changed market dynamics, where movement is due to a shift in the supply curve

A shift in the demand curve will only be experienced when an absolute change is witnessed. This absolute change can be for various reasons including a technological shift, change in consumer buying patterns and so on and so forth. Movement along the demand curve takes place when the supply curve shifts outwards or otherwise, there is a movement then noticed on the demand curve for equilibrium to be achieved.
