     210x + 315 (9-x) = 2205
210x + 2835 - 315x = 2205
            2835 - 2205 = 315x - 210x
                         630 = 105x
                  630/105 = 105x/105
                             6 = x

There are 6 numbers of children.

To get the y, use the Equation 2: y = 9 - 6 ---> y = 3
Therefore there are 3 adults on the trip.
