lactobacilli bacteria are non-motile, harmless organisms that plays many beneficial roles in the body. they are found in the human vagina, gastrointestinal tracts and the mouth. in the human vagina, lactobacilli bacteria produce lactic acid as a by-product of glucose metabolism. the lactic acid lowers the vaginal ph and produce a more hostile environment for other bacteria.
