What do you think genetic diversity means? how is is similar or different from genetic variation?

Genetic diversity represents the total number of genetic characteristics of the species, simply it is diversity within species. It is different from genetic variability, which describes the tendency of genetic characteristics to vary (genetic differences which are found in and among populations).
