Sexual reproduction involves germ cells these are the cells which gives rise to gamates.  Germline  diploid cell undergoes meiosis to develop four haploid daughter germ cells. Asexual reproduction takes place in those organisms which cannot produce specialized cells for reproduction. Therefore, the cells undergo simple cell division for reproduction. In asexually reproducing cells mitosis takes place, in which one cell gets divided into two daughter cells.
