Coelomates refer to those animals which have true body cavity and a lining called peritoneum, which is derived from the mesoderm. The peritoneum lining allows the organs in the animal to be linked to one another. The coelom serves as a shock absorber and provide a kind of hydro-static skeleton. Examples of coelomate animals are humans and all other animals that have back bones, that is, vertebrate animals, such as dogs, cats, baboon, etc.

5. HERMAPHRODITE: An animal that has both male and female reproductive organs.
An hermaphrodite refers to an organism, which possesses the reproductive organs that are associated with both the female and the male species. Some group of animals exhibit hermaphroditism, these are mainly invertebrates, which do not have separate sexes. In these animals, having both sexes enables the animals to reproduce conveniently without having to search for suitable partners. Examples of animals, which are hermaphrodites are tunicate, some species of snail, some species of fish and land slug.

A medusa refers to a type of cnidarian, in which the body has a shape that is similar to that of an umbrella. Medusae typically have many tentacles, which they used to trap their preys. The tentacles are usually thing and long and they are covered with venomous sting cells, through which they inject poison that immobilize their preys.

8. METAMORPHOSIS: The transformation of a larva to an adult, occur only in animals having great differences in form between the larva and adult.
Metamorphosis refers to the biological process by which an organism physically develop after birth. For those animals that undergo metamorphosis, the process is important for their sexual maturity. Examples of animals that undergo this process are butterfly and tadpole.
