Coal, a nonrenewable resource, is the most abundant fossil fuel produced in the united states. although environmental laws and modern technologies have reduced the impact on the environment from the production of coal, coal mining continues to disrupt nearby aquatic ecosystems. all but one of these are negative impacts of coal mining on aquatic ecosystems. that is a) increased atmospheric carbon dioxide. b) mining debris clogging mountain streams. c) run-off carrying toxins into groundwater. d) increased acidity of nearby lakes and streams.
