There are 2 parts to photosynthesis! during the first part of photosynthesis, pyruvic acid is increased during the formation of protons. oxygen is also produced during this step at a really fast rate. during periods of darkness, carbon will become oxidized and will increase. this is important because it creates water (vital for life) and will be used to provide power for the process that makes different types of sugars (like sucrose and fructose). during extended periods of darkness, the plant will hibernate (become dormant) until conditions improve and this is largely due to the build up of fructose, galactose, and sucrose.
