Using the information on here (from the 3 slides), can someone please put the Solar Nebula Theory into simple terms? And how is it different from the Catastrophe theories?
The definition of the Catastrophe theories from the slides: the solar system was created when the Sun
partially or nearly collided with another star.
Problems: Such events are extremely rare. Also, the resulting material would be so hot that it would dissipate into space and not accrete.
Thus Catastrophe theories have been rejected because of these reasons and an overall lack of supporting evidence.
