Distinguish between oxygenated and deoxygenated blood?

Oxygenated blood is mainly carried through the arteries, (an exception is made for the pulmonary artery which carries deoxygenated blood) moving from the heart to the rest of the body through the aorta and usually brighter hue of red due to oxyhemoglobin present.

Deoxygenated blood is mainly transferred through the veins, (an exception for the pulmonary vein which carries oxygenated blood) moving from the rest of the body to the heart through the vena cavae and is usually a darker hue of red due to deoxyhemoglobin present.
