An experiment was conducted to determine the best way to keep a flower arrangement fresh. The three methods
tested were putting a penny into the water, putting five drops of bleach into the water, and putting a packet of
commercial "flower food" into the water. To set up the experiment, eight daisies were placed in a vase of water
that had a penny in the bottom of it, Eight roses were placed into a vase that had five drops of bleach added to the
water. Either carnations were placed into a vase that had commercial "flower food" add to the water. A fourth
vase had nothing added to the water and it contained eight roses, eight daisies, and eight carnations. After one
week the researchers concluded that the best treatment was to put bleach, flower food, and a penny in the water
because the flowers in all three treatments looked better than the flowers kept in the water.
