The movement is called as peristalsis. This leads to the forward movements, which leads to pushing the food into the stomach and intestines, fro the esophagus, for digestion. It is a mechanical movement. These are the series of wave-like muscle contractions. 

It may have some of the same features that it’s mother does but, it may have some of the same features that it’s father has as well.
