How does urban living compare to rural living in terms of environmental impact?

Urban living adversely effects the environment as compared to the rural living. The population of  urban area is more as compared to that of rural area and this population growth leds to harm the environment in many ways. Some examples are: large number of factories and automobiles increases the rate of pollution, the large forest area are being cut for various commercial purposes and thus making the area more prominent for pollution. The quality of air is very bad when it comes to urban area because of pollution and less trees. The chemicals from factories are discharged into the water making it polluted.
