Urban sprawl is the spreading of urban areas into the countryside. It is not only spread to the rural areas but also towards the wildlife habitats. The cause of urban sprawl is the lack of space in towns and cities and an increasing population.

Many villages also grow into urban/semi urban areas. This is a sign of economic growth but with the cost of environmental damage. This damages 3 things - air, water, and land. Due to urbanization, many roads are constructed. It passes through the natural habitats of other wild animals. These roadways split their habitat, and cause a reduction in their number.

The urban sprawl causes set up many factories, the use of vehicles which does air pollution. People are more prone to use vehicles which are responsible for air pollution.  

The agricultural land is used more and the use of chemical fertilizers increase. It causes land pollution. The construction of more houses, factories decrease the land space, also causes land pollution. Increase pollution extract more groundwater. It reduces the level of groundwater.

On earth the natural resources are limited and our demands are limitless. This causes the decrease and contamination of natural habitats. Urban sprawl is an example of such damage.
