Mr. Helms was admitted to the hospital with chest pain and shortness of breath. He has a history of heart disease. A medical examination and an ECG determined that Mr. Helms had a heart attack resulting in mitral (Left AV) valve failure. This is also called mitral valve prolapse. The prolapse is severe and prevents complete closure of the mitral valve a. How will this affect blood flow through the heart?
