The clinical diagnosis of COPD cases could be strengthened by adopting translational bench-to-bedside approach applying proteases biochemistry to biological samples obtained from clinically diagnosed patients. The complexity of COPD will definitely require a multi-target therapeutic approach. Therefore, other targets beside proteases would be beneficial to consider in COPD.
