If a genetic mutation in a plant that produces flowers results in a lack of petals on the flowers, what do you predict would be the most likely consequence to the plant?
It would produce seeds, but the ovary surrounding the seeds would not be able to grow and form a fleshy fruit.
It would reproduce asexually instead of sexually since not all of its necessary reproductive structures would be present.
It would grow taller than other plants because less energy would be needed to produce flowers and could instead be used for growth.
It would have less reproductive success since it would attract fewer pollinators than plants that produce flowers with petals.
I'm pretty sure it's D, but I'm just putting up this question to see if that is correct. Also if any other student doesn't know the answer
