Web DNA replication occurs rapidly. For example, in human cells, approximately 50 nitrogenous bases can be added to as
each second. In bacteria, this process is even faster, with 1,000 bases being added to a single strand of bacterial DNA
At such speeds, errors can occur, and some bases are copied incorrectly. Even so, a human cell is able to replicate its
error for every 50 million bases copied, Bacteria experience these errors much more frequently because the speed of
replication is 200 times faster than that of a human.
