Scenario: The Appalachian Mountains are a system of mountains located on the eastern coast of North America which are composed of marine sedimentary rocks, volcanic rocks, and slivers of ancient ocean floor. This mountain range once rose to at least 30,000 feet millions of years ago. Scientific observations have concluded that the Appalachian Mountains are decreasing in elevation at a constant rate each year. Table 1 Shows the estimated elevation of Mount Mitchell, the tallest peak of the Appalachian Mountains, at different times over the past 5 million years. Table 2 shows different weather data at Mount Mitchell over the same time period.

Prompt: Predict the height of Mount Mitchell 8 million years in the future, then explain what geoscience processes might have caused this mountain to lose elevation as time went on.
(Hint: The height of the mountain goes down by a specific amount every 1 million years)
