Large central vacuole is a fluid filled specialized membrane bound organelle that is present in plant cells. The functions of this organelle are as follows-

The most significant function of the central vacuole is to maintain the turgor pressure ( generated against the plant cell wall) of the plant cell.This provides structural support to the growing plant.It helps in holding the materials and the waste products that is produced in the plant cell.By doing so, it prevents other parts from the harmful effects of the waste material.It helps in maintaining the pH of the cell.
