Constructing and Analyzing a Topographic Map
In this task, you will create a topographic map based on a clay model. For the model and the topographic map, each contour line will represent an elevation change of 1 inch.
Estimated time to complete: 1 hour
You will need these materials:
lump of modeling clay (approximately 5 to 6 inches in diameter)
string (fishing line or dental floss works best)
ruler
pencil
8.5 x 11-inch piece of paper
After gathering your materials, follow these steps to create your mountain and topographic map.
