With the help of sunlight, they turn water, carbon dioxide, and minerals into oxygen and glucose.

Consumers are organisms that can't produce their own food, which is why they eat (consume) other organisms. All organisms (animals, fungi, some plants, etc) that are not producers are consumers.

The common grass shrimp feeds on the phytoplankton, which makes it a consumer. Then, the Atlantic silverside feeds on the shrimp, which means that it is also a consumer. This means that matter moves from one consumer to another.
