It is caused by the organism Pernabanus ambutuses and is carried from person to person by mosquitoes. When an infected mosquito bites a person, Pernabanus is injected into that person's blood. Eventually, the organism moves into the person's red blood cells and reproduces. Each Pernabanus consists of one single cell with a nucleus. It changes form several times during its life. Some of those forms can move on their own and some can not.
