Explain the relationship between these terms. Photosynthesis, chlorophyll, thylakoids, and chloroplasts.

Photosynthesis is the process by which plants take sunlight, carbon dioxide, and water to produce more complex molecules such as glucose and oxygen. This process is carried out cellularly in the chloroplasts. Chloroplasts are formed by thylakoid membranes where pigments such as chlorophyll are found. Chlorophyll is the pigment that captures the photons of light and activates the entire photosynthetic system through the excitation of an electron.

carbohydrates: (starches and sugars) composed of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen.

lipids: (fats, oils, and waxes) are made of carbon and hydrogen atoms.

nucleic acids: contain hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, carbon, and phosphorus. they are polymers of nucleotides. a nucleotide has three parts, a 5-carbon sugar, a phosphate     (-po⬇️4) group, and a nitrogenous base.

proteins: made up of nitrogen, carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. they are polymers of amino acids.
