Why do living organisms need nutrients?

Living organisms need nutrients to help break down food to give the organism energy.

dna damages cause changes in the structure of the genetic material and prevents the replication mechanism from functioning and performing properly. dna damage and mutation have different biological consequences. while most dna damages can undergo dna repair, such repair is not 100% efficient.

2. a parasite only benefits when the host is alive (cause if the host dies the parasite dies with it )
