The purpose of this experiment was to observe the process of heredity and genes. To be able to perform it, I studied how and why Mendel tested genes. I also studied about different types of genes. When performing this experiment, I kept track of homo-zygous and hetero-zygous traits, as well as those that are dominant and/or recessive. My assigned experiment was to breed one male and female mouse together to make a litter of ten mice. The first round I bred two mice with black fur and the same eye color. After creating a litter of ten, I resulted with all the offspring having black fur, relevant to my hypothesis that most or all of the litter would have black fur.

At this point, I predicted that black fur is dominant and white fur is recessive. To test this prediction, I performed the same experiment again, except with one white mouse and one black mouse with the same eye color this time. I watched carefully with each offspring born, but they all were black. I recorded these results down and continued on with the next round.

In the next round, I bred one mouse with white fur and red eyes with a mouse with black fur and regular eyes. This time, however, nearly 75% offspring donned white fur, while the rest had black. All offspring had regular eyes instead of the red eyes.

After performing this experiment, I came to the conclusion that black fur is a dominant trait and white fur is recessive. Even though three-fourths of the last litter had white fur, black fur was still more common throughout the whole experiment.
