The following problem solving assessment is presented in a multiple-choice format. Each choice should be considered individually and an argument should be written for accepting or rejecting it. Since the problem has one best answer, there should be one argument for acceptance and four for rejection For each response, you must first state whether you are accepting or rejecting that statement. Then, you must write a detailed explanation why you accept or reject each of the choices. PROBLEM: Fred Hopper, a 59-year-old insurance salesman, was admitted to the rehabilitation unit for treatment. Two weeks earlier, while sitting in a bar drinking beer, he suddenly fell off the stool and discovered some left sided paralysis. Fred was brought to the ER by his girlfriend. His symptoms progressed to frank hemiparesis without any associated headache or loss of consciousness. Some mild nausea and vomiting were noted, however. He was diagnosed as having a cerebrovascular accident. As the neurological process progressed, these symptoms abated and he was left with left-sided hemiparesis without significant involvement of vision and sensation. Mr. Hopper's symptoms indicated:. A. the cerebellum had been destroyed B. the brainstem was the main source of symptoms C. an original incorrect diagnosis, and the symptoms suggest greater likelihood of tumor D. damage to the right cerebrum E. the cause could not possibly be due to an aneurysm
