You are given a list of seven 16S rRNA gene sequences (below) from unknown organisms. Based on the instructions below go to RDP and identify them. Then Google or go to the original publication that describe the organism to find out what each is famous for (for example "fixes nitrogen", or "produces hydrogen"). Turn in the list of genus and species names (Genus is capitalized, species is lower case- both are italicized) and what is remarkable about each. Construct a phylogenetic tree of the seven sequences. Turn in the tree and report which organisms are more closely and more distantly related. Does the genetic relatedness among the organisms correlate to their known phenotype (i. e., what they are famous for)? Discuss your answer.
