How does pancreatic enzymes acts on glycogen and starches?

The salivary gland and pancreas produces amylase (alpha amylase) into trisaccharides and disaccharide which hydrolyze dietary starch, which are converted to glucose by other enzymes and provide energy for the body. Amylase is also produced by plants and by certain bacteria.

Pancreatic enzymes acts on glycogen and starches with the help of amylase enzyme. Pancreatic amylase breaks down polymers of alpha-linked glucose including  starch and glycogen. The a-amylase catalyses the hydrolysis of the internal α-1,4-glycosidic linkages present in starch and glycogen which results into maltose, glucose, and maltotriose units.
